We have a great opportunity to cover maternity for a 12-month period for our Head of Tax. We’re looking for someone to join our senior leadership team and take ownership of all tax-related matters across our growing, innovation-driven business. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead the preparation and submission of UK corporation tax returns (including iXBRL tagging and capital allowance analysis), manage a significant R&D tax credit claim in collaboration with technical leads and advisors, and ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.

You’ll also oversee VAT compliance, support financial forecasting and budgeting, and provide strategic tax input into commercial partnerships and group planning. Internationally, you’ll manage non-UK filings, permanent establishment risk, transfer pricing, and withholding tax. You will also lead on employment-related tax matters such as PAYE, global mobility, P11Ds, ERS filings, and share scheme administration. As the primary liaison with HMRC and external advisors, you’ll manage all formal and informal enquiries, while driving continuous improvement and ensuring full compliance across the business.

What You’ll Bring:

• ACA and/or CTA qualified with extensive UK corporate tax experience
• Proven track record in R&D tax relief claims and IFRS tax accounting
• Strong technical knowledge of UK tax legislation and employment-related tax
• Experience managing international tax matters and external tax advisors
• Commercially astute with a proactive, risk-aware approach to decision-making
• Passion for innovation, sustainability, and the clean energy or technology sector
• Ability to anticipate regulatory challenges and recommend strategic improvements
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and contributing to functional strategy
